Sin to Succeed

David Hayward over at nakedpastor had some great thoughts on how we in society and as a church can often use the motto, "The ends justify the means" to succeed. Here is an excerpt.

"Which got me thinking about another great human achievement, the Pyramids of Egypt, which, although arguable, were built from slave labour. Which got me thinking about so many other things that we enjoy today that have been produced directly from imposed cruelty and human suffering. Which got me thinking about so much of the church today."

Being in ministry I think sometimes this can also be shown in the lives of pastors and those of us in fulltime ministry. We are "required" to work long hours and be "on call" 24hrs a day. The damages of this aren't always as noticeable, but it can have a huge effect on the family.

The Office...

In lew of Dan King's post here about his office space at Cornerstone. I thought I would follow suit. So following are pictures of my office space at YFC. I share this space with Kim Worthington. While my office my not be as creative as Dan's (mostly cause I haven't had time, and cause I am not allowed to paint my so cool) I do feel that it is a great space. Especially the dual-monitor setup, WIFI, large speakers (in top corners), and plenty of places to work.

Please pray

One of the biggest parts of my ministry at YFC is running a club for jr. high students in the Queen Elizabeth community. I have been connected to this community for 3 years and know alot of students and parents from the area of Saskatoon. It is for this reason that we looked for a year to buy a house and move into the area. God has provided that home for us and know we must go to Him again. Right now we are without a facility to continue running this program in the school. While we have support from parents and teachers in the community we have lost our time slot in Queen Elizabeth school. Please pray that God will move in the community association to allow us to be able to continue to run this program. This is very deep on my heart as we have just moved and the thought of having to uproot our club is weighing heavy on my heart.

Cabinets get some doors

The cabinets we have now have doors. However, we are still waiting on some missing pieces for the bottom cabinets so it could be another week before we get countertops.

Not dead yet

I promise that I haven't died. Life at our under construction house continues and for some reason this is cutting into my blogging time. We have almost all of our cabinets (one is missing) and we have begun to assemble them. This was then followed by making a mistake and taken some of the cabinets apart to reassemble them. And Yes, I promise we read the instructions.

Now we have discovered that since the interior of the cabinets and the doors are different colors, that we are to iron on new veeners so that the outside colors will all be the same. I think this will be the most annoying part of the whole process. Frustration is an understatement when it come to this whole kitchen process. If you would like to take over and complete the job for me, come on over.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that we haven't even begun to hang any of the cabinets yet. Nor have we had to deal with the strange plumbing job that will be under the sink, or figured out how to wire in the dishwasher. Fun times ahead.

I think if we have the kitchen complete by September I will be happy. Might wife might not be, but I will.

Until my sanity returns.
