Fall is here...

It is September and fall is here indeed. While some questions about Dimension Four still loom in the air, I am beginning to gear up for the kickoff to many programs. Hopefully D4's issues will be resolved tonight and I can finally start to advertise the when and where to students. In addition to the D4 I am running for grades 7-9, I will begin a new D4 this fall for high school students. This group will be held at my house and garage. This group is going to be alot smaller (i am in my house after all) and will seek to go alot deeper in the spiritual climate of the group. I am praying that this will become a great core group of students that I can disciple further and to give them chances to step out in action over this next year. Most of these students I have known for at least 3 years and I am excited for this chance to speak in their lives.
I will also be increasing my ties with the schools I am involved in. I am hoping to be running two after school programs at Queen Elizabeth and John Lake School. This programs have typically been great feeders to our D4 programs and our often the start of a students connection with Jesus.

My wife and I are also excited to become involved in Fuse at Cornerstone this year. Fuse is taken on a different look, with a more intimate setting and we are excited to get involved in this. Fuse is going to be meeting twice a month at the church and then encouraging groups to meet during the off weeks in home to continue the discussions. We are planning on hosting groups at our home as well.//Fuse is going to be following teaching from Erwin McManus// If you are interested come on out Sept 18th at 7:30pm for some coffee and a chance to experience God.

Hey, just wondering....does anyone actually read this blog anymore?
I know that I have been letting it slide alot more recently and I would like to change that.... if you would like to see, read more here... please let me know....

Holidays

Well, I just thought I would inform the 4 people who read this that I will be leaving on Holidays tomorrow to BC. With the drop-in centre in my garage I haven't been able to take much holidays over the summer. We are very excited to be going to Abbotsford to visit my family, and especially to be able to see Libby play with her cousin, Taylor. Should be good times. We hope to get some good R&R before we kick off into the busy fall season. Please pray for us as we are traveling very early in the morning and Libby is going to be stuffed up from a cold for her first plane ride. Be back soon.

My .Mac Web Gallery

So I upgraded to the new iLife '08 and I especially love the new .Mac Web Gallery, its finally gave .Mac a reason to exist. I just might have to get it when the 60 free trial I am using expires. But for now enjoy checking out the gallery I made rather quickly from my iPhoto Library. Please note that if you use dial up then you might not want to visit the page.

Hot and Hotter!!

So with the hottest temperatures on record in Saskatoon recorded this week I have been trying to fine ways to stay cool. Awhile back I posted about the need for an air conditioner in my garage. And I am happy to say that I now have a working A/C in the garage. It is helping to keep myself and the kids cool, abit. While not everything I did this week help me stay cool. On Monday, (the hottest day of the year) I played Ultimate Frisbee for 1.5hrs and was completely soaked in my own sweat. Gross, is a nice way to describe it...

In other news... we have a finished kitchen...I have painted the garage (okay I only primed it and haven't even picked a colour yet) and my wife is loving her flowers and garden beds...you can check out the pictures on our flickr account.

Until I come up with something better to say...

SOLD!!

Front Yard
Originally uploaded by ddgrunau.

It is official. We have bought a new house. After looking for a new house since last September we have finally found a place to call ours. It is located in the area near to the school where alot of the students I work with live. We are extremely excited. While this house does need some work, it is perfect for our family. As an added bonus, the house has a heated, insulated, two car garage. We are planning to turn this garage into the rec room. I will move the pool table into the garage and will be able to have many students over. Can't wait for the summer, roll open the garage door, play some pool, shoot some hoops on the large cement pad. God is so good. This is an answer to our prayers for over a year.

On flickr there is more pictures of the inside as the current home owners had it. Alittle 1960's.

This is the day...

That's right, this is the day the California Trip leaves. Which mean my wife's job as Calbreak administrator will come to an end, we will get to leave for Easter Break to visit Dawn's parents, and it also means the beginning for those of us on the prayer team I had mentioned. I will talk about that yet, but first...

I just thought I would mention that we are in the process of trying to buy a house! That is if one of our offers is accepted, which is a big "if". We have been house hunting in the crazy market of Saskatoon for about 1 year now and we are praying that God will provide a new home for us. We have been praying for this for a long time as the area of Saskatoon we long to live in is close to the school where many students live that I work with at YFC. This will open up many doors for us if we are able to live right in this community. We should know if we have a new house by Sunday or Tuesday.

Prayer Team Update: All of those who have committed to praying for the students can request a complete list of the students and staff by emailing daryl@yfcsask.com. I had previously mentioned that the team would be meeting together, however, these meetings will be announced for next week, as I will be in Alberta over the Easter long weekend. However, if you wish to join in prayer, the staff at the Youth For Christ office meets during the week at 9am each morning to pray for the trip. For directions to the office please phone (306)242-7117 for more information. And finally, updates for the trip will be posted online at once the trip is underway. Thank you to those people who have committed to praying each day.

Posing

Artistic?
Originally uploaded by ddgrunau.

Since my daughter, Libby, has decided that she can crawl and explore the whole main floor of our house, AND, she can stand up with not much more help than a pant leg, she has discovered our coffee table. She loves to peer through the many openings in the table. These openings are usually full of stuff, but she usually finds a way to clear them out and look through. We had lots of fun playing peekaboo through them today, but when I took out the camera to get this artsy shot, instead of laughing, she thought it would be way better to just strike a pose, a serious pose that is. Maybe she is trying to appear smart? Hmmm, not sure....maybe she is wondering where I put the computer she oh so loves that use to be in that opening? Or is she relaxing after geeking out with me from the last post? By the way, she already loves the new computer, especially when I turn on the isight for her to have her picture taken, or to record her. Keep up those good poses Libby.

For my love

Sonnet 18

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed.
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest,
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Happy Valentine's Day to my beautiful wife.

Libby is crawling!!!

Libby is starting to move alot. We are starting to "baby proof" the house as she seems to find everything to pull out of the coffee table, the computer cords, etc. Anyways, I just thought I would post this short video as today is when she decided to move ALOT.

First Family Photo

The Grunau'sThis photo was taken a mere 15 minutes after Libby was born. Just look at those two cuties. I am so proud of my wife and Libby isn't the only cute one. After roughly 30 hours of labour and 1 1/2hr of pushing Libby out just look at her, she looks great even after all that. I truly am the luckiest man on earth.
